Switch 10-won't let me turn off secure boot

okay so i accessed my switch 10's uefi settings,but therein i am unable to turn off secure boot,simply because the option seems to be locked down and can't be affected with mouse clicks or any button presses.so has acer actually locked down this crucial option or am i a grade-a moron?

if it can be turned off,i would like for someone knowledgeable to help me get linux on this thing-specifically,elementary os,it's based on ubuntu.what i know so far is that the firmware on this thing does not play dice with 64 bit bootloaders,so we are gonna have to use a 32 bit bootloader to install a 64 bit OS.i have already sourced a 32 bit bootloader from the abundant bounties of the interwebs,but the wrench that is secure boot still prevents me from booting up elementary.if indeed i am able to boot up elementary,would things be as simple as "installing" it?a cursory search of the web informs against such an idea,but i can't understand complicated commands,i can follow them,but all that is available is for the transformer book t100.is someone well versed in the linux world present here?please help!!

Never mind,it was a simple matter of setting up a superviser password to unlock that option.i succeeded in reaching the "try elementaryOS without installing" stage,and on choosing that option it does appear to load and the logo flashes for a few seconds but then the screen just turns expectanctly black,and stays black....**bleep**.anybdoy have any ideas?

Unfortunately there aren't yet chipset driver for Linux in any flavor. This means if you did get a portion working you wouldn't have thermal management. Your black screen might be an indication of that, since a heat overload will shut the processor off to keep it from burning up.

If you want to install Linux on Switch 10 you need to use 32-bit EFI bootloader. You can install x64 system but bootloader must be 32bit EFI. Another problem is that the tablet seems to restore it's original boot table after every reboot, and the only way to keep getting into Linux instead of Windows is doing "efibootmgr --nextboot 0000" to force one-time reboot into Linux after each boot.

That said, I would advise against it because I have installed Arch Linux on my Switch 10 SW5-012 tablet and used it for a little while - too much hardware is unsupported. While you may find linux driver for wireless in github and compile it, with the latest stable 3.19 kernel there is still no support for bluetooth, backlight control, battery condiditon, sd card, then tablet hangs up from time to time if I use GUI - all in all not really usable. You better off just installing Linux in VirtualBox under Windows - won't loose much compared to limited functionality you can get with native install, and you can just as well install 64bit Linux in VirtualBox without EFI compications.
