Despite what may have been said, the W510 does not have Assisted GPS (AGPS) -- it has something else.

The AGPS specification does not require a network connection to attain a location lock. A an available netork does help in speeding up the delivery for the satellite location data for its GPS portion of the hardware to obtain a faster location lock on devices with weaker antennas (such as compact consumer goods).  Yet whatever hardware and software setup the W510 has, it is REQUIRING such a network location for any location resolution.

This is both puzzling and frustrating and certainly denotes the W510 as lacking AGPS.

well many review sites state and even in the specs /manual says Agps ......when i apoke to sales and level 2 tech support they actually said it had assissted gps and it meant it was faster than regular gps lol i was like well in my experiance anything with the word assissted in front of it sounds slower as in needing help lol. And he couldnt expain how it worked or what program an play in tweak it or turn and shut it off. Now i do find funny in the recovery folder in the firmware filder there is an actual gps .exe but when you run it it resevers and stops installing. Telling me it is in there and not full activated or it was removed on final production

When I first tried it while connected to a network it was off by about five miles. I see no indication that the w510 has a GPS receiver internally so have no idea how it was even getting that close.

Once I added an external BU353 and found the right drivers, it is working very well just not with the included maps (am using Street and Trips 2013 and Delorme Street Atlas 2013 - prefer Delorme but it is soooo sloooow to load.
