Slapped a new hard drive on my acer v5. Tried clean installing Windows 8.

Issues: After the Win 8 Loading Screen - Gets stuck at "Setup is starting.."

Disk Drive slowed down and i heard it stopped(Even the hard drive.)

After 30 mins of trying to wait and see, if it's just stuck there forever.

It popped out the installation dialog finally, but heres the bad part.

Every Dialog Window it takes hella long to load up, the disk drive and hard drive stops

every time and i have to wait 10-15 mins per dialog window.

Have you any USB device connected?

No, i don't have anything connected on the laptop. Except the power supply.

I also got an error when it's on the installation process.

if you can, try to create a bootable USB pen with windows installation media and install from the USB.

if you still get errors and slow system, can be a faulty HDD or some ram problems.

Tried that already. Installed windows 8 succesfully, while installing softwares i needed it suddenly just froze. I was force to shut it down by pressing the power button. Turned it on, and poof.. OS Corrupted. Can't even fix it with auto repair.

This is the specs of my ram and hdd:
    8GB(2x 4GB DDR3 12800)
Toshiba 500GB HDD(I know it's good since, i pulled it out on one of my laptops.)1

I tried using this acer with windows 7 and it seemed fine before, and then it crashed. So i decided to fresh install everything with win 8. But it's been 2 days now and i'm losing hope on reviving this laptop.

On windows 7 i also had the same problem, it crashes randomly. Until it came to the point that.. The system is unrepairable. I thought it was driver problems. Since this model doesn't have Windows 7 Drivers available that's why i decided to fresh install Win 8. But i'm still having the same problem.

ok, looks like an hardware issue.

it can be a dying HDD or some ram problem.

the first i would try is to boot with just on stick of ram at time, install your OS and check if it freezes again; then change ram stick and try again.

you can also use some tool to check ram or hdd:

    http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/
unzip the zip file, burn the .iso file to CD or USB pen/external HDD and boot from it.

you will see a list of software as memtest and HDD check, run both and see if any error arise.
