Laptop - Reset & Turning Off following update

Hi all,

Usually browse through other people's posts to find the solution but haven't seen this one crop up yet.

After the recent update (assuming 8.1) for Windows, my laptop [Aspire E1-572] seemed to do a hard re-set. It took around 10-15 minutes to boot up and once it wasn't displaying a blank screen, it welcomed me to my brand new laptop! [I've had the laptop for over a year]

I had to set up a new profile etc. as if it was a new laptop. Did all of that and everything was fine until I plugged the charger in. And the screen randomly powers down.

I've checked power settings, I've checked battery settings - all set to never but still doing this. Also, tried to run a system restore to pre 8.1 but as it is a 'new' laptop, no system restore point exists, apparently.

Any advice?

Thanks,

JJ

You may  power OFF the computer by pressing the power button for 4 to 5 seconds. Then remove the battery and then connect the AC adaptor alone and see if the computer works without auto shutdown.
