No audio on G1-715 tablet from speaker

Hello.

Please hth some guidance to solve an AUDIO problem involving BLUETOOTH.

I have an Acer (Gateway) G1-715 that is about 2 months old.

Android version: 4.1.2

Kernel version: 3.4.0

Build number: Acer_AV051_G1-715_1.064.00_WW_GEN1

CPU vendor: MTK

CPU core: 2 cores; 1.2 GHz

ROM: 8GB

RAM: 1GB

2 weeks ago I connected the device, using the bluetooth feature, to a friend's wireless speaker (an Urban Beatz). It worked just fine.

This week I bought an Ultimate Ears Mini Boom wireless speaker. Manufacturer: Logitech. Model: UE Mini Boom. www.UltimateEars.com.

I paired the speaker succesfully to the tablet. It seems to not be connected, though. Sound only comes from the tablet unless I use an audio cable and connectthe speaker directly to the tablet's audio jack. The speaker then works.

I called the speaker manfacturer and the support tech helped me to pair the devices again, but to no avail. The tech suggested that I return the "defective" speaker to the retailer, which I did. Now I have a new speaker, same model, but it is behaving exactly as the first one did.

There seems to be a problem with my tablet's audio outpur when using bluetooth.

Can you please give me some guidance? I thank you in advance.

FIrst of all, i would unpair the tablet and speaker, delete the speaker from the BT list and then reboot the tablet. (long press power button, choose power off then power ON again when it ended the shutdown).

once on home screen, i would try to pair the speaker again and check if sound worked, check also volumes on system/sounds or system/volumes

I have followed the steps you wrote, to the letter.

After pairing again and re-booting the tablet, I checked the volume levels on both units. Volume levels are up. Still no sound coming from speaker.

There is sound from speaker when I connect it directly to tablet, using an audio cable plugged into the audio jack of the tablet.

Do you think I'm missing some kind of setting on the tablet?

The same problem existed with my prior speaker, which I returned to the supplier because manufacurer's technician walked me thru pairing again and also volume adjustments, then said the speaker must be defective.

Please help me figure this out. I thank you in advance.

Thank you for your additional guidance.

I downloaded that app and am able only to select "get a u e miniboom" and "learn". When I click on" settings " an error message appears, even with the speaker paired again and power on. The message is: "be sure your UE MiniBoom is on and connected to access this feature".

As I found out earlier, the speaker works when connected to the tablet with the audio cable, using the audio jack. I connected them again this way and tried to access the app's " settings" and I got the same error message, unable to use the "settings" feature of the app.

I really think there is some setting on the tablet that's preventing audio from transmitting to the speaker, or connecting to the speaker to the tablet thru Bluetooth.

Any additional ideas and suggestions you have for me would be greatly appreciated.

once paired, on the BT device list, if you do a long press on the logitech speaker, there are any advanced settings?

maybe you need to check something about audio streaming or similar.

Yes, tapping UEMiniBoom in BT leads me to three choices: 1. Rename UE MiniBoom

2. Unpaid

3. Use for media audio. This feature always has a green check mark next to it.

I searched the world wide web for "G1-715 audio streaming" and read some things that were not related it this problem. I'm really frustrated because this is the second UEMiniBoom I have tried to connect. It must be an issue with this tablet.

Any further ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.

Untick use for media audio, exit from that screen, re enter and tick use for media audio.

Hello and thank you for your continued help.

I just did, and found that when I tick on "use for media audio" the little green check mark goes away temporarily then reappears by itself. Whenever I do this the speaker makes two distinct sounds, with a slight pause between them, as if disconnecting then reconnecting. The tablet seems to always want this feature on and the green checkmark there.

I think we're getting warmer...can you recommend any other settings on the tablet that I should try?

media audio must be ON/ticked to work, the untick/tick is just a trick to force it.

which audio player are you using?

as last resort, you can try a factory reset (you will loose all your personal data, so do a backup first) but i doubt it will solve this strange issue.

Thank you for your help... I apologize for the delay in response.

I tried to find out more about audio programs but the only thing I can say for sure, as an answer to your question,is that I'm using Google Play Music, but there's audio coming from the tablet's speaker when not playing music, like when a game or app is on. So I might not be understanding the question very well,and would appreciate your further guidance.

I have now created a an account, or sub-account, I guess, through Google, using my Google account to backup android settings. Is this along the lines of your recommendation for me before I do a reset?
