Get a can of air and blow out the intake and exaust ports to make sure it's not heat related.

Open a command prompt as Administrator and run "chkdsk /f", yes to reboot and then , as admin, sfc /scannow

Run MemTest on your memory http://www.memtest86.com/

to see if you might have a bad dimm

    Run  http://www.hdtune.com/

To see if your HDD could be failing

Hopefully by now you will have found the problem.

Open a command prompt as Administrator:http://www.howtogeek.com/194041/how-to-open-the-command-prompt-as-administrator-in-windows-8.1/

Type chkdsk /f it will ask if you want to reboot, type Y. This will check the Windows for errors and fix them.

After that's done, open the prompt as Admin again and type sfc /scannow. This will repair missing or corrupted system files.

If needed download memtest86 FREE Edition

Right click on desktop and select New Folder, Find the memtest in downloads, right click on it and select Extract All, in the popup find New Folder and select, ok, extract. In extracted filed find and open readme.txt and follow directions.

To boot from USB hit F2 at boot and enable F12 boot menu and reboot with USB installed.

    When I type chkdsk/f and enter .

Acess denied as you do not have sufficient privileges
you have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode.

yes, you need to run the CMD as administrator as Philetus told you.

    I'm not an Acer employee.
