When trying to connect to my existing wireless, I get error 651.? However, everything else connects this Xfinity router without any trouble. Yes, I tried Xfinity internet troubleshooter. Seems (not sure of) that ACE is not sending the correct information to the router so the router does not allow it to attach. Yes, I did triple check my typing...

    lse872,

Is the system you are having this issue with a Windows 7 system? If so, please follow the steps on our support article regarding this issue to see if it resolves your issue in Windows 7: What can I do if I get Error 651 when attempting to connect to the Internet with Windows 7?

Not 7, it is Windows 8.1 and 64. The PC screen does not even display wireless..it just display "broadband" and then makes me go to a screen to enter lan detail. I should not need to do anything but type in wireless and select the wifi for xfinity/comcast. all i ever do is enter the router userid and password.

If i start setting settings, I may be in big trouble...so, I just need my ACER Aspire to use WiFi naturally and normally.

    Thank you.

    lse872,

Thanks for the update, let's see if this can get it going for you:

    1. Bring up Windows 8.1 Charms
    2. Select ‘Settings’
    3. At the bottom you’ll see signal bars for your wireless connections. Select those.
    4. This will bring up your wireless networks menu showing other networks your system can detect. Sweep the airplane mode bar to the right to activate it.
    5. Wait 30 seconds and disable airplane mode by swiping in the opposite direction.

Should that fail, the next troubleshooting I can suggest is this:

    1. Power off your system.
    2. Power off your router.
    3. Power your router back on.
    4. Power your system back on.
