CLONING INTERNAL HD TO NEW SSD ON MY ACER R-7 571 WITH ACRONIS
My hardware is an Anker ubs-3 sata adapter with pwr supply connected & working. Acronis is very simple & staight forward. My internal drive is 500gb & the sata drive is a crucial 256gb. My r-7 is new to me & just upgraded to 8.1. The hd is mostly empty.Plenty of room on SSD.Acronis allows for this cloning from larger to smaller provided sufficient room is available on the cloned drive...which there is. When the destination drive is listed it does say "not initialized" but no error message is given. I noticed when looking in "my Pc" my hard drive appears but not the ssd drive. It is listed as astm 1053 in devices & printers. Looking in device manager Acronis TIB Mounter is listed & the drive is also listed as astm 1053 under drive section. I wanted to format it but no option for this is listed in properties. Its a new drive so I'm thinking this isn't unusual. Once everything is set & I press proceed, a reboot is neccessary but the reboot takes me right back into windows. When checking the bios there is a an option in the boot device section for acronis which I moved up to the front of the list. I'm unable to start the cloning process. Any suggestions.
