Acer desktop (AX1420G-U5832)problems

I have an Acer desktop (AX1420G-U5832), which has been good but after a year it is developing problems.

 

1. The active window will suddenly disappear leaving only the desktop visible. This will happen when I am neither typing nor moving the mouse. A quick jiggle of the mouse always brings the active window back but it is a big nuisance.

 

2 When I try to delete a single letter in an email or Word document the keyboard will sometimes delete a whole line. "Undo" fixes it but again it is a pain. It is NOT my own typing error !

 

3. The screensaver no longer opens - I get an error message instead.

 

          I don't know whether these are problems with the Acer computer itself, or with Windows 7, but would appreciate any help.

    When did these issues begin occuring?

     

    If they began after a set of Windows 7 updates, have you attempted to roll back prior to the updates?

     

    Have you changed any hardware or software on the system?

     

    Have you considered restoring the system to factory defaults?

    Thanks. The problems have developed in the last 3 months or so. I have not altered the original Windows 7 Home Premium though it seems to have Service Pack no 1, which may have been an automatic update. I have not changed any internal hardware. I have not yet attempted a system restore - maybe that is the next thing to try ?

     

    I have run Malwarebytes which did find various bad registry keys from Adware (curse them !) and has deleted them all, I believe. My AVG antivirus program runs three times a week and always tells me it has found nothing....

     

    I have fixed the screensaver issue, which was my own fault (renaming a folder), but the other two problems continue.

    Please describe item #1 in more detail.  Moving the mouse brings back a missing window?  I'm not sure I'm understanding what is occuring for you.  Are you moving the mouse to the lower right corner of the taskbar?  Getting window frames instead of the windows?

     

    For #2, I'm not sure there is anything that I will be able to help with.  What other programs are running while you are in Word?  What email program are you using?

    #1. When I am composing mail, in Gmail, or simply browsing with Firefox, the active window disappears and I am looking either just at the desktop, or sometimes at a couple of small empty frames on the desktop.A jiggle of the mouse with the pointer anywhere, always brings the active window back.

     

    #2  I am sometimes running Firefox and Word at the same time, but this erratic deletion happens with just email as well (nothing open except Firefox).

     

     Both these problems have just occured while I have been typing this little message.

    OK, so both of these issues definately occur while using a browser.

     

    Is the browser minimizing?  and the "mouse jiggle" is re-maximizing the window?

    What happens on-screen when it "returns" ?

    No, the disappearing window happens in Word too. The active window vanishes, leaving a frame of a smaller size, but returns with just a small jiggle of the mouse, at a random point on the screen(not the top or bottom bars) and I can resume working normally. I guess you could say something is minimising the active window, but I do not need to go to the icons on the bottom bar to make it come back.

     

    Likewise the erratic deletions happen both in Word and in email through the browser. Edit-undo brings them back.

    I've not been able to find any other indications of this issue in any of the places I would normally turn for technical answers.

     

    I want to try this:

     

    Right-click the taskbar

    Select Properties

    Under Preview Desktop with Aero Peek, uncheck the box

    Click OK
