Hi...I have an Aspire V5-122P-0889 laptop with Windows 8.  I am having trouble with the monitor. The computer turns on, I see Acer come up on the screen and then it looks like it is coming on, but then the screen just goes black and stays black. I can hear the computer is still running, but there is nothing on the monitor.  Can anyone help with this problem?

I suggest you to perform a reset using the battery pinhole at the bottom of your computer. You may completely power OFF the computer, disconnect the AC adapter. Insert a paperclip into the hole and press for four seconds to reset the computer The battery reset pin hole would have battery symbol near the hole. Reconnect the AC adapter, and resume normal use. Also check if any new windows updates were installed on your computer.

Also, check if are able to get the BIOS sceen by hitting F2 key when you see the Acer logo.

Hi...thank you for your help.  I did the reset as you suggested, however it did not solve the problem. I am able to get to the BIOS screen, but the computer monitor just stays black on normal start up.

Are you able to get the windows login screen?

    Please restart the computer.

When the Acer logo appears on the screen (As soon as computer powers on), press and hold the the left Alt key and tap the F10 key.

During the system recovery process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. Therefore, we recommend you backup your personal data before starting the recovery process.
