Broadcom 802.11 abgn Wireless SDIO adapter device is not working properly

I was using my acer aspire switch 10 one night, then the day after that, the Internet icon appeared with an x symbol and when I opened the connection settings, it showed that there were no networks available despite that in my iPad there are 4 wireless connection available.

I tried configuring it by going trough the settings; I have troubleshooted it, configured it, disable- and enable it, went to network and sharing center, changed the adapter settings, but it still not working, and the properties of my adapter says that "this device is working properly" even if it is not

My wireless connection is working (proof is I was able to post this) what should I do? Should I bring my laptop to a repair center or what?

Sounds like you've covered the usual bases... Best to contact Acer support and have them fix it for you.

Did you try uninstalling the driver and letting it re-install on the next boot. If still a problem I'd look in the Event Viewer for a related error.

Another possibility would be that something in the driver "advance settings" has gotten confused.

And a suggestion, InSSIDer gives a lot more information about what the adapter is "seeing" than Windows.

Has anyone found a solution to this?  I am so desperate.

I have the exact same system, the exact same problem: every three hours or so, my Switch 10's broadcom 802.11 abgn (no matter whether I'm at work, school, or home) will cut the wifi, and state "No networks found" - despite there being 6 networks in range and no other devices having issues.  This lasts about 3 hours, and then after shutting off the latptop and waiting hours for it to start behaving again, it at random lets me connect to a network.

I HAVE SENT THE LAPTOP TO ACER TWICE ALREADY.  They turn on the laptop, which has been off for 4 days, they state it connects to a network, they last claimed it streamed a video for one hour, and then they ship it back to me.  My Switch 10 is three months old and has spent a great deal of that time in transit to or at Acer repair center.

This unit is useless to me without stable internet; I'm afraid I've been sold a "lemon" and I am dejected by how much it has affected my productivity and the difficulty in getting Acer to replace the wireless card.  Hopefully this time they will use the internet for enough hours to witness it cutting out because they state they must replicate the problem.  I am SO glad to see other people with the exact same system with the exact same adaptor having the exact same problem.  Acer - please, please step up to the plate and help us.

    Hi all,

I too have the same problem with my Switch 10.  The connection drops, followed by the signal strength icon showing Limited.  Turn off WI-FI and turn back on and no networks show at all.

I then go into network settings, run the troubleshooter and it does its stuff, re-setting the network adapter, and then informs me that it could not find an issue.  After resetting the adapter it works fine again.

I have tried unistalling and installing latest drivers but the problem persists.  The problem lies within the adapter itself or the driver.  My adapter shows as being REALTEK though, which makes me think that the driver is causing the problem.

My switch is not a month old yet and this happens a couple of times a day. and am close to returning the product.  I like it, but cannot put up with such an important issue as the internet randomly dropping.

If I were you I would definitely return before it's not possible anymore - lest you have to send the laptop to Acer and have it shipped right back to you twice as has been my experience.  At this point I'm practically talking to myself on this board on which it seems there are no Acer employees or people with knowledge beneficial to the situation.  Thanks for your post

I started my own thread, but have since discovered an updated driver which is not shown by windows or acer.  If itbworks I will post its details and where to get it from.

    As stated see my thread

    http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/Acer-Aspire-Switch-10-Wi-fi-randomly-dropping-out/m-p/346347

Possible solution as you will see.  Mine works and although mine is Realtek I am sure that there is a newer Broadcom driver.

Hope this helps, I know your pulling your hair out.

"Something" relating to Wireless was just pushed to my Switch 12 by Acer.

Uptdate - laptop went in for a third round of what possibly could have been support saying "hey we got it to work for an hour, shipping it back."

This time, before shipping it in, I took photographs of the Acer laptop showing "no networks found" next to another laptop showing six networks found, in multiple situations.  I sent these photographs to support via the "send file" feature of Acer support chat.

I then sent a pleading handwritten letter with my laptop, urging support to fix my issue, telling them how desperate I am for their product to function with internet.

This strategy has been successful.  Acer has replaced the motherboard and the Switch 10 has worked for 12 hours with no interruption of internet yet.  I will post again if I have any further problems but I (crosses fingers) don't expect to.

Advice for anyone seeing this thread: provide photographic evidence, be prepared to send your laptop in 3 times.  Write a desperate-sounding handwritten letter. God speed.

Hi there, I have a W510 and my wifi is super slow since 2 days.Using Win 8.1. My Ping is fine but I only got speed of 250kbs and I am having an 150mbit connection. Additional my tablet can't find any 5ghz network anymore. The warranty is away and if it is a hardware problem, the tablet can is useless and the cost for service to high. Maybe anyone has a idea for me. Driver Update and Windows Clean Install doesn't help anything.
