Iconia W510 USB thumb drive didn't complete the restore

I just got the $45 USB eRecovery thumb drive from Acer this week.  I booted from the USB thumb drive and all seemed well while files were copying.  After a few minutes it said to remove the thumb drive and click OK and it rebooted.  The Acer Recovery Management window said "Please wait" then after a minute an error window stated "Recovery failed - could not find path M:\D2D\Images\*.SWM"  I turned it off and back on but it ended at the same error.  What's it referring to M: and how do I continue?

Offhand and this is just a guess I would think that maybe the recovery mechanism tried to create a virtual drive (MSmiley Happy to extact files into and it failed.

Thanks for responding !  Is there anything I can do to nudge it past this error short of buying a Win 8 installation disk?  The recovery thumb drive came straight from Acer but I haven't gotten any response from them.

Sorry, you'll need an expert on Windows installation switches. I suspect there is a file on the recovery drive that needs to be edited. First I would clone the drive and always work from the clone.

This might help but I cannot duplicate your system so these are guesses.
