I have Win 8.1 upgrade. It was suggested to fix my wifi access problem that accured after the update I needed to download the latest network drivers then remove from Device manager those drivers and install the new drivers. Nothing worked my network adapter has 3 adapters

1.Bluetooth device (PAN)

2.Bluetooth device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)

3.Broadcom 802.11 abgn Wireless SDIO Adapter

The Broadcom adapter  says: The device cannot start (Code 10)

Status_Device_Power_failure

What are my options or solution

I generally go into Device Manager>Network Adapters then double click on the Broadcom adapter.

Select "Uninstall" but Do Not delete the driver.

When done, reboot. Windows will reload the driver hopefully without a conflict.

    usually works for me.

    Thanks a whole lot Ace

Did exactly as you stated.  I  had to run off for about 15 min when I came back  and booted up I immediately noticed that my wireless indicator was not being held hostage.

    It's working fine.

    Thanks

have tried this method and has worked before, but will not work now.

Fresh Win8 installation few months ago, minimal use/apps installed on the device.

Have uninstalled the drivers via device manager, scan for new hardware which reinstalls it.

Wifi still unavil with STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE in device manager.

It's always possible you have an actual hardware failure. Power issues could be in the interface between the motherboard and the WiFi/Bluetooth module.

This was my first reaction after trying several times to reinstall the driver via device manager.

Eventually, i downloaded the whole driver package from Acrer website which reinstalled all drivers but managed to sort it out.

Not sure if it's an issue with Windows 8.1, or maybe you don't get a very good Wifi Adapter inside a $249 tablet, but either way i've had issues with the driver a few times with it now and i hardly use the thing.

Thank you for this advice which I followed and finally solved my problem of no WiFi (with my Iconia W4). When I bought it, it had windows 8.1 and a few days ago I upgraded online to W10. After attempting to go online a few days later, it kept saying there was no WiFi available, which there clearly was. I got the message that there was a problem with Broadcom802.11abgn. Fortunately I have a second computer and looked in several forums and found this was common with upgrades from 8.1 and the solutions suggested either didn't work or were highly complicated so I reverted to 8.1. This was easy, but once back, I still had the same problem with no WiFi. I followed the advice below but initially it didn't make any difference, but eventually I found the option 'update this driver'. I obviously couldn't go on to the internet to do this but I took the option of searching within the computer and found two versions of the driver on offer. I clicked on the one, I think, labelled Microsoft and to my amazement, I got WiFi back. I can't remember the exact steps but I was grateful for being sent in the right direction. I now wonder if the same trick would have worked if I had stayed in Windows 10, but I don't feel like trying it for now.

The same problem happened again after two weeks and I solved it in the same way. To give better details than before:

I followed the advice of ACE padgett above.

    Device manager/Network Adaptors/Click on Broadcom 802.11/Driver/Uninstall/Restart

Again this didn't give me an internet connection, but I clicked on Browse my computer for drive software, then Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer. This gave me the option of Broadcom 802.11 .....(Broadcom) and Broadcom 802.11 ....(Microsoft) The Broadcom version appeared to be in use. I Clicked on the Microsoft adapter, then next, and I had an internet connection.

I don't know what made it go back to the Broadcom adapter and cause the problem. I see that ACE padgett's last line is 'usually works for me' which suggests it happens quite often. Perhaps we could have some software updates to avoid it?

Problem with Wifi is very frequent. Question is who fault it is. I have version Broadcom 5.93.99.187 which is least buggy what I found. But problem with connection to new wifi is very often. At most cases I need to restart Tablet to proper connect to new wifi. I thing the problem is in Bios or inf

I had a second go at installing Windows 10 and this time it went better. I found I had internet access with WiFi straight away. There was no need to change the driver.

This worked brilliantly for me, but suspect I may have to repeat as you did.  I have a Iconia W4
