Aspire 5715Z SATA HDD connector

Hi,

I recently acquired a second-hand Aspire 5715Z that is missing the hard disk, including the caddy.

I can get a replacement caddy and 2.5 SATA HDD easily enough but what I don't understand is the HDD connector on the laptop does not look like a SATA connector.

Is there supposed to be an adapter or cable that connects the HDD to the laptop? If so where can I get one?

James.

    Hello James,

Could you give me the first ten characters of the laptop serial number S/N? Only the first ten.

(it's a HDD 9.5mm high and I find no cable). Wait your answer.

The first 10 characters are LXASV0X001.

I think perhaps it is a standard SATA connector on the laptop.

I found a Youtube video which shows a 2.5 HDD plugging straight into the connector.

Yes it's a sata connector. The HDD is a Hitachi 3.0Gb/s (sata 2).

    What HDD did you buy?

None yet but I assume any 2.5" SATA HDD will be ok?

Watch your video here and check you have the same MB. Look at the label under the memory sticks. The first ten characters are the MB part number.

    He has this one MB.ALD02.001.

I'll give you the original HDD part numbers.

Thanks. I see it has a micro-SATA connector which is perhaps why I did not recognise it.
