White Screen after resolution adjustments

Hi, my Acer Aspire TimelineX has started to give me issues with the screen. Whenever I try to play a game that changes the resolution or I change the resolution myself I get a white screen. The computer keeps running while the screen is white and the only way I can get it to go back is to hibernate the computer or shut it down. The white screen does not seem to be affected by opening or closing or adjusting the screen position. Also I can connect to my tv via hdmi cable and it shows up fine on the tv. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The symptoms you describe are very peculiar and I am not aware of something like this happening. If you have tried updating the drivers on your notebook, then I would suggest performing a factory restore after backing up all your data. I know this is not ideal but I would like to rule out any software or registry issues.

If the problem persists, then it would seem that there is a problem between the display and mainboard because you describe that you can still connect it to an external display and get an image.
