Acer Asipre 774-6656 audio jack doesn't work

I have a Acer Asipre 774-6656 WIndows 8.1 64 bit notebook.

 

The audio output jack on left side does not work.

 

I hav edone the troubleshooting in windows for sound proeblem - no help.

 

I don't see a realtek sound card listed in device manager and I believe it is in the original specs fo rthis notebook.

 

I get sound fom the notebook speakers.

 

Have gone to control panel sounds and tried all the available adn even have disabled and disconnected devises noted to show.

 

I have tried a couple of speakers in the output jack tha twork on other notebooks - not the external speaker.

 

Any suggestions woudl be helpful.

 

I won't spend the money to replace the output jack - but would think this is a real long shot as the problem.

I know you have tried almost everything but if you haven't already, try restoring the computer to factory defaults. I am only suggesting this because it seems like you have done every thing I would have suggested. Understand this will cause you to lose data, so please make sure you back up all your files.

 

If the problem still persists, then it would very likely be a bad audio jack.
