external mouse is extremely slow

I've had a W700 tablet running Win 8.1 update 1 for about a year and just can't figure out why an external mouse is such a painful experience.

A touchscreen is great for playing solitaire but you really need a mouse to click on small text links on webpages. I've tried a Logitech Bluetooth mouse and a Logitech M325 wireless USB mouse and they both jump all over the page until the page stops loading. It seems that the wireless modem is hogging all the resourses from everything else.

I am also running Kapersky Internet Security, which bogs things down on this tablet as well.

Any suggestions on what to turn off or settings to change to make my tablet more zippy?

Try a virtual touchpad like TouchMousePointer and see if you have same problem.

I would have expected the Logitech M325 wireless USB mouse to act the same as a wired USB mouse, since the wireless portion is done on the outside of the USB port. I'm thinking either the anti-virus is tying up resources (perhaps a background scan?) or there's something else keeping the system busy. Is there an easy way to monitor wireless traffic? If the WiFi is saturated then you would see those symptoms.

An update to this post - I tried a USB mouse and it didn't change anything. I was getting really tired of the sounds being way delayed playing Microsoft Solitaire, and the slow mouse response became really pronounced when mousing over pages on Chrome. I did some more digging and found posts related to "computer slow on battery". Turns out the solution to this problem fixed everything else - the Intel Dynamic Platform needs to be disabled.
