W510 sleep hdmi issue

I have a w510 with Windows 8.1 and all Microsoft updates.  It also has the lastest Acer driver and bios packages installed.  By itself, it has no problems going into and coming out of sleep.  I recently purchased an external monitor to use with it.  using a micro-hdmi to hdmi cable, the video and audio out work fine over hdmi.  Windows is set to extend the desktop so I can use dual monitor (tablet screen and external monitor).  However, now whenever the hdmi is plugged in and I put the tablet to sleep, it will not wake up.  I have to hold the power button down until it shuts off hard, and then it will power back on properly.  Remove hdmi, and sleep mode works fine again.

Besides unplugging hdmi each time I want to put it to sleep, any thoughts on how to resolve this?

Thanks

I'd have to try but have not noticed on my 510. What is the version & date of your video driver ?

That is the same driver I have but mine acts differently. When connected to a HDMI TV and I put it to sleep, every thing goes blank for a few seconds then the Windows splash screen with time appears. Swipe that and both displays are back.

So, if I log in with an admin account, there is no issue coming out of sleep.  Also, if I log in with an admin account first, then log in with a user account, no trouble with the user account either.  But after a reboot, if I only login with a user (non-admin) account, the hdmi/sleep issue occurs.

Unfortunately, I will not be making the primary user of the tablet an admin, so this is still a problem.
