I have a Acer V5 573 that was upgraded from win 8 to 8.1 that has wifi connecting issues.

I have tried many different Drivers for the Broadcom adapter, and windows tells me I have the latest update.
I have two wifi systems and cannot connect direct to the internet via my Dlink DIR645 router with the latest firmware. However I can connect via my second wifi system that is a wired lan/wifi extender from the dir 645. I have many other computers phones and tablets all connect to either network without problems. Sometimes It will connect to the primary for a few seconds then drop the internet to only local connection. One strange thing I have noticed that if the signal from the dir645 is weak in poor area with 1-2 bars it will connect but very slow.
I have tried too many things to list here but are comming to the conclusionn that the driver does not exist in win 8.1 to sort this problem, any suggestions welcome.

Try reinstalling the driver from Recovery.

In desperation I did a full reset back to original settings in acer recovery, prepared to reinstall all apps etc. Well it did not revert back to win 8.0 as expected but to 8.1 where the problem still exists.
This is so frustration I am on the point of ditching windows for Linux. Perhaps I can change the Broadcom module or has anyone any other suggestions

The way I see it, and I have the same problem with an aspire V5(552G) and the qualcomm atheros AR5BWB222, you have two options:

the easy solution: buy a cheap usb wifi adapter.

my aspire has the qualcomm card and is more of a POS and doesn't work, every other device in my house works fine and the usb wifi adapter works fine on the V5... other devices connecting without issue in our house: Lenovo laptop (ideapad), ipad, iphone, LG G2 and a PC still running winXP.

If your comfortable changing components, buy a new wifi card.

However, you are on your own when it comes to finding a compatible card as acer offers no assistence for this. I've called sales and the accessory store. I'm out of warranty so I can't even talk to support without paying - I can't even send them an email...

The intel 7260N in my Lenovo works flawlessly and I'm trying to find a compatible intel card for the V5. However, as I previously mentioned, acer does not provide any support or help for people out of warranty, which I am. The only thing I get is to call a tech or send the V5 in for repair. I do not need to do this as I've been changing components in my machines for over 20 years... I need to know if a card is compatible or not. I have also talked to and written intel - go figure - and they can't help as this is a question for the maker of the laptop.

I've tried almost every solution I could find in these forums and they are all a waste of time. I will not disconnect antennae - that is just riduculous! The problem is my router? Really? I've got 5 other devices, all with different OS's, all working fine...

The problem is simple, acer does not do a good enough job of having their partners provide compatible drivers and their products and reputation are suffering greatly because of it.

I have an Aspire E1-571 with a Broadcom wifi with the same connectivity problem. I solved this by changing in the driver settings "20/40 Coexistance" and "VMM" to disable all other settings to auto or default. Thank you ACER support for no help.
