Acer Aspire ES1-512 slow performance

I recently bought an Acer Aspire ES1-512, and I am surprised at how slow the performance seems to be.  Is this a common problem?  If not, does anybody have any suggestions as to what the issue may be?

Hello,

 

It's a entry-level laptop. Do you have a dual or quad cores processor? What's the size of memory?

Thanks for replying.

 

It is only a dual processor with 4GB of memory, but I still wouldn't expect it to tell me that it is unable to install an app from the Store because the internet connection was too slow, whilst my wife's Toshiba seems to be working online with no issues. Do you think that this seems wrong too?
