my monitor will not stay on

My monitor will come up when I power it off and on.  It will then go to black and stay black.  I power off and on and it does the same thing.

This is probably a power board issue (bad capacitor).

Do you see the led light on when you switch on the monitor? and the OSM displays?

The whole screen will light up for an instant and then go dark.  This happens each tim I press the on switch after pressing the off switch.  That is how I know it is not a video card because I can see everything on the screen

I suggest you to disassemble your monitor and to check visually the capacitors of the power board.

Check the function key board too.

Thanks   I understand opening and checking the board.  I don't understand checking the function keys.  The monitor switches work but I can only see them for a second before the monitor goes black.  Are you talking about the function keys on the computera itself.  I haven't touceh those.  One morning I came in and the computer was on and the screen was black after being left on overnight.

I tested the function keys in the little time the monitor stays on.  They all seem to work but I haven.t opened it up yet.
