Driver install for GN246HL

Hi,

I recently bought a GN246HL monitor cause before I had lots of screen flickering. So thinking a gaming monitor that can go up to 144Hz refresh rate would get the job done.

Now though no matter what I do, windows keeps the drivers as generic pnp monitor. And because of that my refresh is limited to 60. Even if I tell windows to install the drivers for this monitor it keeps telling me that the generic pnp driver is more recent and doesn't need to be updated.

What do I do about this? Cause it sucks that I spent all this money on a gaming monitor that basically doesn't get the job done anymore than any other cheaper model.

The rest of my specs is Asrock b75 pro3-m, Nvidia GTX660, i5-3350p, 16Gb ram and I run on windows 8.1.

To see refresh rates above 60hz @ 1920x1080, you will need to use DVI-D dual link. VGA or standard DVI will not give you access to the higher refresh rates.

I'm having difficulties to install the driver as well and windows doesn't recognise the screen automatically.

I'm using Win7 64 bit. Any idea why the driver doesn't work and how do I get windows to recognise it?

My driver still hasn't installed correctly, but at least I got windows to up the refresh rate to 144Hz though. Apparently HDMI doesn't work. You will need a DVI-D dual link cable to be able to do that

I tried the DVI-D dual link cable as you suggested and I got the refresh rate up as well. Thanks for the advise!

I have the same problem that I can not display the 60hz . The display card is the only place for HDMI , VGA and Mini DisplayPort. I have a monitor connected to a mini display port adapter and a DVI-D Cable but does not work.

I had to go into the display > Screen resolution > advanced > monitor tab and select the higher refresh rate. It defaulted to 60Hz. Also, If you notice under Display > Screen Resolution it should correctly identify the monitor. Yes, in other areas it's the default Windows P&P and I don't don't what's up with that. For me the issue has never been screen flicker and I had a GeForce 660, though now I have a GeForce 950. The issue I tried to resolve was not just getting a "gaming monitor", but to eventually use VR and to update my WIN 7 to WIN 10. WIN 10 update told me previously my ASUS flat screen was incompatible. Haven't tried again with the updateagain yet, but running new monitor at 120Hz and it's great!!
