W511 Windows 10 Technical Preview 0xc0000428

Hello Everyone,

First I got this Error:  0xc0000428 after my latest Windows Technical Preview update from a few days ago.

It started with not being able to connect or even find any wifi at all.

Now that error does not appear, but during all the TS I have it now starts and says its doing some changes, it says with a Windows warning window:

"Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart

the installation"

So my guess the smartest thing to do is to roll back to Window 8 again.

Before I installed Windows Technical Preview I did the back up Microsoft asked for,

guess it was this:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-faq#faq=tab0

At least it was in the installation steps.

And this is how the files looks like:

boot

efi

sources

bootmgr

bootmgr.efi

reagent

but it did NOT contain any setup or autorun file,

so how can I make this rollback to Windows 8?

I have already downloaded Windows 8.1 from Microsofts website,

taken these files:

autorun

setup

And I put them together with the backup I created, added them to the USB

and managed to startup, Touch/Mouse/Keyboard work, so I tried RE mode, or to go

back to older tech preview 4, tried all options. but nothing works.

Then I loaded the USB with the Windows 8.1 that I downloaded, and this starts-up,

and it makes itself ready to install, but the touch screen does not work,

the keyboard does not work, the mouse does not work, so I can never click next to start

the installation.

Same thing happens as Windows 8.1 when I load the USB with Windows Technical Preview.

I can go to BIOS with the Volume Down and Power button pressed together until BIOS appears,

there does Thouch work also.

Any suggestions on what I can do?

    Hi kirankp25,

    Thanks for the reply.

I solved it yesterday, I first wrote I had tried all options,

which I thought, but my 15 year old Nephew said I did not do

the clean install, in which I later did, where the option to

remove the TPM--which is something about the possibility to encrypt your

HD with bitclocker and so on, which I removed and everything worked out.

Not sure if it was possible without removing it, anyway, now I am again writing on

    my W511 with keyboard.

Seems like it works so much better now, than with Windows Technical Preview.

This is probably do to Acer have built the Windows 8 to work perfectly with this specific OS,

with the custom installation of drivers and so on. I guess you know what I mean!

Thanks for that this forum even exists.
