Hi, I have an Acer Aspire M3450 and is plannign to upgrade my Video card to PNY GTX 650, I have already installed it and it seems it wont push trhough the BIOS or Set-up Screen. After waiting for some time the ONY GEForce Screen appeared then tunred black again. I have asked PNY Tech Support about this problem and told me I need to upgrade my BIOS since it is still as of todate at AMI P01-A1 9/23/2011.

I have checked in the Acer Downloads page and found a newer version of this which is P01.A4 dated 8/8/2012. However, I would like to ask for a step by step process in updating my BIOS since it is stated that upgrading the BIOS may harm my computer.

Please give me an advice and assistance please.

Thanks an good day.

First of all you need to flash BIOS without any other application running,

then unzip the file and READ the readme.doc for clear instructions, the easiest way is to use the windows mode, the safest is to create a MS-DOS bootable USB device with the BIOS flasher and BIOS rom.

you can use a good utility like Rufus to create a MS-DOS bootable USB pen:

    http://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=en_US

choose to create a bootable device and from the drop down menu select MS-DOS, let it prepare your USB pen and then copy your BIOS files to the root of the USB pen, reboot your PC and press F12 at boot to choose the USB pen as bootable device; then follow readme.doc for flsahing instructions.

    I'm not an Acer employee.
