Hi all,

I have a V3-571G that originally came with Windows 8. Sometime back I did a clean install of Windows 7 on it with the help of the drivers on the official Acer website.

Now I want to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 on the system. So looking up the drivers for Windows 8.1 for the V3-571G on the Acer website, it seems some drivers are missing. I noticed the chipset, SATA AHCI, and WiMax drivers seem to be missing for Windows 8.1 but are available for Windows 8.

How should I proceed from here on? I only have Windows 8.1 available for installation right now.

Regards,

SATA and AHCI is part of Intel chipset drivers but windows 8.1 defaults are good too.

by the way you can have a check on Intel website with their tool:

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24345

if you know your WiMax card brand and model, you can check on the producer website if any driver is available.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Ok. So I can proceed with the installation process using only the drivers that are currently available on the Acer website for Windows 8.1? Regarding the WiMax card, if I don't explicitly install a driver for it, will things still be smooth? I heard that for some devices, Windows Update fetches and installs drivers if needed. So will I be fine if I don't bother explicitly installing the driver for the WiMax card just after installing Windows 8.1 ?

  • Hi,

Website has drivers for 8.1 if the drivers for 8 not compatible or requires updates. If you don't find 8.1 drivers you can very well go with 8.0 drivers, you should not have any concerns.
