My acer ASPIRE 5733z laptop is not showing DVD Drive in My Computer. I have tried with registry key settings, but no positive result. Even the Drive is not showing in Device Manager! Any help?? I have windows 7 64 bit OS.

First of all, can you check on BIOS if the DVD drive is listed?

press F2  at boot and check it.

On the BIOS main page, check if under ATAPI or SATA devices, the DVD is listed.

No DVD in BIOS means that DVD is not working, probably and hardware issue.

What do you suspect ? My DVD, when I open the tray or enter it, blinks with its yellow LED as it does normally.

    That doesn't mean that's working.

if the DVD is not listed on BIOS, this means "no connection" or "no data" sent to motherboard, so windows can't see your DVD.

i can only suggest you to try a load default settings on BIOS.

Press F2 at BOOT, go to EXIT tab, choose load default or load optimal settings, confirm, then Exit and save settings and check if DVD is recognised.

if not....DVD drive is broken or there's a bad connection to the motherboard, you can try to take off the DVD drive and re-insert it; there's one screw to unscrew and then you can take off the DVD.
