Hello...

New user here just got the Acer Iconia W4-820 and love it. Do have a few questions the following

1.) Where would I purchase a Micro HDMI Cable to use with the unit to hook it up to an HDMI Source ie TV? I've been loooking at the following cable http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10253&cs_id=1025301&p_id=7556&seq=1&format=2 Would this work for the unit? Sorry if other company links are not permitted.

2.) Where can I purchase a decent case with screen protector or which one would you recommend?

3.) Can I purchase example a external Bluetooth Keyboard for the unit and which one you recommend?

4.) I have a spare MicroSDHC UHS-1 32GB Can I use this card with the tablet or would I need to purchase another card?

Thanks....Gamer2k1

Yeah, the Evo would be a better deal if you only plan to use it in the W4. That's probably the one I would have purchased if the Pro wasn't on sale when I got it.

For #1, are you sure it's mini-HDMI or is it micro-HDMI?

For #4, yes that will work fine.

Click on "Like" if you find my answer useful or click on "Yes" if it answers your question.

    Hello..

Its a Micro-Hdmi. Just double checked again and its a Micro-HDMI. If it helps any the model I've got is the Acer Iconia W4-820-2668 32GB model.

    Thanks...

#1 - yes that cable or one like it should work.

#3 - can't specifically recommend one (the one I use is no longer made), but almost all BT keyboards should work no problem.  I would avoid one made for Apple just because the layout and keys can be a little different.

#4 - and yes, that card should work fine.

    Hello Gamer 2k1,

1.) That cable should work fine.  I have a similar one I got from Amazon.com and it works, but not as I hoped; I've left feedback to Acer.  On my HD TV and computer monitor the W4 wants to only be in Portrait with the TV as an Extended display.  So, one needs a mouse connected so they can slide what they want over to the TV, like a slideshow or movie playing in something like VLC (appears to me only a Deskopt Extended diaplay).

2.) Case... partly depends on what you want to do with it.  I have an origami one on an iPad that works better in landscape than it does in protrait mode.  If you are primarily interested in landscape mode, I found one on eBay with a hard back and magnetic lock that also turns the W4 off when closed and wakes it when opened for $8 and change:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/390943963217?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&var=660305346487&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

As for screen protector (and stylus, recommended IMO for Desktop mode especially), they can be found many places.

3.) I opted for aTargus 4-port hub to plug ito the MicroUSB port via an OTG cable.  Hub was on sale at Stables for $3.88 and I have an OTG from a previous tablet.  With the hub I can plug in a keyboard, mouse, flash or/and external hard drive at the same time.  I am looking for a useable OTG cable with power port so I can power the W4 at the same time.  The one I bought doesn't.  Another I am looking at and asked the community if it works got me 2 Yes's and 2 No's so... I emailed Acer asking for an suitable cable.  With this setup and the HDMI and a 64GB MicroSD card, I can pretty much eliminate my old desktop computer. (!)  I hope.

4.) The SD card should work fine.  I wanted a fast one and have my personal folders moved to it (Documents, Pictures, Videos, Desktop, Music, Downloads) so I found a Samsung Pro 64GB on sale that supposed to be good for 48 MB/s.  Works well.  I did a simple timing test by copying a 2.9GB file.  From Samsung to C: drive = 22.5 MB/s; C: to Samsung = 15.8.

    Thanks for the reponse..

On #4, I've checked around and found http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Class-Adapter-MB-MG64DA-AM/dp/B00IVPU88U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418507716&sr=8-1&keywords=Samsung+64gb+microsdxc which is a Samsung 64GB MicroSDXC card, outside of the price is this the type that you would recommend?

    Thanks...

I just bought one of those on black friday; they had them on sale for $35. It's a very good card, but the high speeds can't be taken advantage of in the W4, so it would kind of be a waste of money for that particular one.

Would the Evo one be suitable compared to the Pro, outside of speed wise? How about like http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Class-Adapter-MB-MP64DA-AM/dp/B00IVPU7AO/ref=lp_3015433011_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1418509286&sr=1-1 or would a Pro be better? Price isn't a major issue just want something that will work, only would be used on the W4.

That's the card I purchase, Gamer2k1.  I agree with Plastixx, the port appears to be a standard USB2 so spped is not there.

I ran Crystal Disk Mark 3 on it this mornging (the Samsung EVO 64GB) and the highest speed was 23.474 MB/s.  So even the "slow" 30 MB/s cards at a better price are more than fast enough for the W4.

    Sadly....

Hello, I experienced some problems because my Acer W4-820 isn't working. Screen is not turning on despite I pressed for 1minute long. And I also pressed reset button which placed next to micro HDMI cable, it doesn't work. In addition, I'd tried to get into BIOS, it doesn't work.  Just green light beeps at the top, and screen is black. How can I fix the problem? Was it inferior goods, or not?

    a) very long press of power button turns off, not on.

    b) to get into BIOS press and hold the volume control and power until the BIOS menu appears.
