Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help me.  I am having booting issues with my revo rl80. Sometimes it will boot and sometimes it will not.

when it fails to start up to windows i get the power up beep, the tv see,s the computer turns on and then black screen..  i can here the hardrive start.    No acer start up screen.  also there are no bios beeps...

When it does run, it takes ages to startup to windows 8 and then stalls all the time...

Any suggestions would be appreciated..

thanks

Reading your description, it looks like a problem with HDD or ram.

if you don't mind to take a backup of your personal data, i would suggest you to do a refresh or better reinstall the OS from Acer erecovery.

boot to BIOS pressing F2 at boot, check if D2D support is enabled (if not, enable it), press F10 save and exit.

on next boot press ALT+F10, then follow onscreen instructions; it will take some time to end the reinstall.

Many thanks for your reply ironfly..

Late last night whilst trying to fit my laptop into the tv system i noticed my hdmi switch was not picking up the laptop automatically.  So i tried it straight into the tv.  Came up straight away.  So tried it with the revo.  Came up straight away, but stalls whilst trying to load windows.  I can get into the bios no problem.

So that little first bit is solved..

managed a personnel data backup last week.  But did not realise i needed to complete a backup with a usb stick etc.. so i do not have a recovery...

i will try your suggestion tonight..  but suspect the hardrive may be gone...

    thanks

Does your Revo has DVI video output too?

i would try to connect the Revo to the TV directly using an DVI to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable.

if you have another HDMI cable, please try it.

Hi,  there is no d2d options in the bios on this system.  Tried f2 and started to attempt a recovery but fails as i have no usb rcovery..   definetly looks like the hardrive is gone.

I have contacted acer services to see if its possible to get a copy of the windows 8 os, as i managed to get the key before it all wemt wrong... not sure if its possible...

but many thanks for your help ironfly....
