Recently, the screen on my laptop goes blank, then after a few seconds returns to normal with a message that the display driver stopped working but has recovered.

Is there a possible solution to stop this happening?

Thanks

    Updating your VGA drivers:

    http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers/131;-;Aspire%208930G

select your OS and download the VGA drivers.

if you have already the latest from Acer, you can try on the graphic card manufacturer website; uninstalling the Acer drivers and installing the latest from the manufacturer

    I'm not an Acer employee.

    Thanks.

I see from the web that this is quite a common problem.

Was led to the Microsoft site where it identified a posible problem being one of three things.

    • You may need to install the latest updates for your display driver
    • Visual effects, or too many programs running in the background may be slowing your PC down
    • The GPU is taking more time than permitted to display graphics to your monitor

Under the first solution (i.e. Method 1: Increase the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) processing time by adjusting the Timeout Detection and Recovery registry value)  it suggested running Microsoft Fix It. Have tried his and am waiting to see if it had aby effect.

I will, however, check if I have the latest driver.
