Which is the cheapest good WiFi dongle for my Acer A1-830 that you would recommend on this list?

just to connect to the Internet, the rest is not so important.

Thanks for your time!

You can't use it on your tablet, since there is no compatible drivers for it.

and...why a wifi dongle when your tablet has already an integrated wifi module?

Oh, it asks me for a password. I thought with the dongle I wouldn't need it? I don't know, strange, but I have never used WiFi before... I don't know where to get the passwords?

    Wait wait....

explain better what you are trying to do.

by the way, passwords are passwords and can't be bypassed with a simple wifi dongle. Smiley Happy

Sorry, I will just use some free WiFi hotspots. I read somewhere that passwords are on routers??? (as stickers), so I thought passwords would come with the dongle, but it isn't that easy, so I will just use hotspots for updates.... At home I have a good Internet connection, so I don't need WiFi.

I do need GPS, but it should also work without WiFi. It is not working right now, but I have dowloaded no maps yet, so it is obvious...

    Thanks for the explanation!

passwords are saved on routers/modem but they can be changed by the hotspot administrator, so the passwords on stickers are just the default one for the first boot/setting (not the one to connect to an hotspot).

WiFi dongles don't have passwords to access hotspots.

Thanks, I am going to town tomorrow to see how it works. Apparently there is a huge area with free WiFi... Smiley Happy

Good, keep in mind....free wifi doesn't mean "no password". Smiley Very Happy

Thanks. I have just checked online and apparently one can connect simply by entering one's email address during the log-in process. A bit strange, but we will see if and how it works!

Well, it did work. I tried both the library WiFi and the City WiFi. According to the Internet, I would need a password for the library WiFi, but they said I didn't. Maybe they removed it in order to save themselves work, lol (with all people asking for the password all the time...). Anyway, it did connect, but I could not download maps because the download kept failing. I don't know if they might have disabled downloads? The City WiFi apparently allows 250MB/day, but unfortunately I could not check because the bus came. Yeah, if I have nothing to do the bus always goes in front of my nose and then I have to wait, but this time of course it came immediately...

I will check another day. Smiley Happy

In some public hotspots/WiFi they can block some download or website links, just to not have an heavy traffic.

Yes, it is possible. I will try the City WiFi that apparently lets you download 250MB/a day as soon as possible...

Or I could also download the files to my PC and then transfer them to the tablet.

Are there any reliable sites where you can download Android files directly instead of clicking on "install"?
