Good afternoon Acer Community,
I'm having a prolonged issue with the internet stability of my Aspire Notebook that I purchased in 2012. I have had zero problems with this notebook up to this point. Whenever I start my notebook, the internet connection no longer instantly acquires, but rather will disconnect completely with the little yellow dot on the signal display. I have to go in manually and click connect several times before it connects. I've had my cable company come over to ensure my internet is stable, which it is (20dl, 2up). When I'm connected, my internet browsing speed is fine, but then will bog down pretty badly at least 5-10 times per hour. The biggest problem is during any sort of online gaming, where my latency will shoot up to 500+ ping for a few seconds, and then eventually go back down to around 100 (which is still high).
I did at one point go through my msconfig to get rid of programs I didn't need. I fear I may have gotten rid of a program that was running that is integral to my computer's internet stability. I went back into msconfig and enabled all of the programs I was able to, but no improvement. I don't know if it is no longer in the list since I disabled it, but either way it's not working correctly at all.
I was thinking of reformatting but I don't have any CDs or anything similar to use to reformat with.
Any suggestions?
