Hi all,

have just bought this laptop second hand, but its in as new condition. Its got the box, manuals and receipt, but its running Windows 8 pro, and I want to put it back to Windows 7 pro, which it says in the manuals it licenced for both.

But the problem is I cant find anywhere the Acer eRecovery program to do this as shown in the manual, and there is no sticker on the laptop with the Windows keys for the licence..

Whats the best way to find the licence, or restore the eRecovery system to put Windows 7 back on it?

Apart from that the laptop is really good, and does everything I need.

Hopefully someone has a solution for me, as I cant get to grips with Windows 8, or do a full wipe without the licence.

Cheers,

Mike

All it has on the front is P253-M, and the specs. Is there another model anywhere??

    Not that I can see...

The lad said he has not deleted anything off it, but he is as thick as a whale omelette!!!

On the box the model is TMP253-M-32344G50Maks if it makes any difference..

    Go to File Explorer

    • Open File Explorer by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering File Explorer in the search box, and then tapping or clicking File Explorer.

You should find your C drive and another partition (D: Recovery). If this partition is gone, you're out of luck to revert to anything. If it is there and is not corrupted you can revert to whichever OS the Recovery contains.

    All sorted!!
Excellent customer service from Acer, who sent very specific instructions showing how to reset and restore to Windows 7.
Just doing the process now and all appears to be going well, so very happy!

Thanks to those who have sent comments and suggestions, it's most appreciated.
