Happy customer - An Acer Iconia W510 success story!

Hi All,

 

I bought my W510/64GB in the spring of 2013 (NOK 1995,- /equiv. to 300$). No docking/keyboard. I added 64GB SDHC memory, a screen protector,a pointing pen,and a very nice black leather case. All from a Chinese online-shop at less than 75$.

 

The Windows updates and all software I have installed/tried has worked flawlessly, including photo-editing software and the occational editing of 50MB+ maps and photos ,etc.     

 

My screen is nice and crisp, with good viewing angles, battery lasts 4-5 hours of continous use - youtube or Netflix or TV... Also , my WIFI operates better then I have ever experienced , the Iconia switching automatically between my base-router and WIFI-extender as I move - wherever the signal is stronger.

 

BUT! Operating System wise (i.e. Win8.1) ,after all the upgrading problems of many fellow forum members , I felt less than eager to upgrade myself! Win 8.0 has worked just fine for me thank you ,and I even had "Start is back" installed Smiley Happy     

 

Windows Update had suggested a free Win8.1 upgrade for months, but I had been uncertain about compatibility issues of Win8.1 v/s the ACER drivers and the hardware of the W510.  

 

After a lengthy online session (reading NYT) the other day,and just before logging off, a message says: "Windows need to restart before finalizing the Windows 8.1 installation" ..... I was surprised , cause I had not initialized it - to my knowledge.

Then it took the better part of an hour before the installation had finished .... Big wait and a big pleasant surprise when everything turned out just fine.

 

And everything works out just fine - I could not be happier with my Acer Iconia. And I am still glad that I waited ,having had the luck to stay with Win8.0 so long.

 

Still, more and more apps and progs (like the New York Times reader) needs Win8.1 to work fully as advertized. So, I am glad it happened.
