Out of warranty repair - A500

My Acer A500 has stopped working.  It powers on or off, but when powering on it gets hung up on the Acer or Android screen.  It is out of warranty (purchased in 2011).  I have read hundreds of similar posts.  None of the suggested solutions have worked for me.  I have paid to have a local computer shop look at it but they could do nothing for me.

I love this tablet and I would like to have it fixed and not have to replace it.  Who can I talk to about this to get an estimate...and if anyone has successfully had this problem fixed, did it last...or am I just going to have the same problem again a few months from now?

Thank you for any assistance or suggestions.

Thank you very much for your suggestion.

I have been able to view the boot menu?? (upper left corner of the screen) when I start the unit holding the power and volume up button, but I have been unable to select any options and these lines disappear within a few seconds and I get the Android character with a spinning symbol and then the Android character (tipped over) with a red triangle and exclamation mark.  There is a status bar that makes it about 1/5th of the way across, and then everything freezes.

I have tried every combination of power and volume button selections that I have found posted as possible fixes, but nothing has yet worked.  After reading so many similar posts, I would like to know what position Acer has taken on this.  I was unable to find a link on the Acer website that allows me to send this tablet in and pay for it to be fixed.  I selected Support / Repairs / Customer Self Service...and then get told I am "out of warranty".  I know I am out of warranty.  Are all of these Acer customers throwing away these tablets?  I have not even been able to find anyone who has posted a successful resolution when the "reset" options have failed.

Thank you all for any additional suggestions.
