I've just purchased an Aspire One AO722, and besides making sure my drivers are up-to-date, any other model-specific tasks that I should be aware of? Any known pitfalls to avoid with this model?

Besides using it at meetings, the netbook will serve as the backup computer to my mainframe (Win 7) computer, storing all backup files, documents, photos, and the applications I need to work with the data (besides the 320 MB internal drive, I've hooked up a 500 MB external SATA drive for additional storage space).

I would set Windows Update to not install updates automatically. The October updates included some updates that caused some computers to boot to a black screen.I want to check out the updates before I install them.

Get a good anti-virus going asap. You could make sure all the screws are tight. There are some laptops that had loose screws that caused then not to boot. I don't believe yours was one of them, but it can't hurt.

Thanks for responding. I never do Automatic anything, especially updtes. The only updates I install are security patches. Though I have to admit I've not tightened screws on a computer since my last desktop, but as you say, it can't hurt.

For security I use AVG Internet Security, Private Firewall, Zemana Anti Keylogging, and 3rd party secure apps for searching, surfing, etc.

    Again, my thanks for responding.
