Acer Switch 10 won't turn on or charge battery after changing power plan? Connected standby problem?

The computer is in dead state the next morning after I switched its Windows power plan to high performance. In order to unlock power plan options, I disabled connected standby via a registry key in HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Control\Power\CsEnabled to 0.

After investigating, I read that this computer doesn't support normal hibernate\wake-up process other than connected standby. I select shut down option in the menu (hibernate option disappeared). It's possible that shut down option in the menu was actually set to sleep/hibernate in power settings by default.

The battery was at 100% before I last turned it off.

The LED power indicator doesn't light on when power supply is connected on either DC or microUsb.

Are there options to fix it other than taking it to a service center

Try to boot pressing power button + volume down, it will boot to BIOS then exit without saving.

Update: The LED power indicator does now display charging after I had the device connected for about 10 mins. Also it started heating like the cpu is under stress.

So it looks like the computer is in a hibernate state from which it can't wake up. I tried holding the power button to turn it off completely but that doesn't do anything. Power + volume down doesn't work either.

Is there a procedure for factory reset using a combination of buttons?

ALT+F10 but only at boot, so if even Power button + volume down (tried a very long press of both?) doesn't work.....

The display is off, but it's heating when connected to a power supply as if under heavy stress. I can't get it into the boot state with acer logo showing.

I read on solutions to acer hibernate problem for some other models, it involved removing the battery.

Would removing the back cover and disconnecting the battery mean warranty void?

i got problem it before my tablet has warrantied they said rechargeable battery was dead to be replace they fixed it if your tablet no wattanty order new one from ebay and you do it by your selfthanks

I finally got mine to power up after a day of trying. The Power + Volume Down seemed to do it.

Now that it is running, I turned off Hibernate (in Windows 10):

How to enable or disable Hibernate in Windows 10:

Press Windows + X keys to open Power menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)
To enable the Hibernate, type command powercfg/h on.
To disable the Hibernate, type command powercfg/h off.

If you're good with taking things apart, can tell you what I found with my mother's Acer Aspire Switch 10 (SW5-011-18R3). I took the main half apart. The clamshell opens along the split line on the sides. The one on the back is just a design element. With power cord attached, I was able to read 4.26 volts going to the battery. Plenty to charge it, especially how ACER says it won't charge very fast if it's on. Not a big voltage disparity since the battery is 3.8v, so not a big charging force. However, I wasn't getting any LED indication of charge nor able to turn on the thing. Power button, power button + vol up, power button + vol down, reset switch, none of it was working. BTW: The LED is the hole in the power button. So, after taking it apart, I found that there's a ribbon cable going from the main board, across the battery, and plugging into the sub board that has the charging LED, power button, volume button, and a vibration motor attached to it. The ribbon cable had become disconnected at the sub panel and so the battery had been charging the whole time, just couldn't see it. Plus, couldn't turn the thing on, since the power button was effectively disconnected. Flip up the little black panel at the base of the connector (away from where cable goes in), put cable in as firmly as possible, flip black panel down, and WOOLAH, strong blue LED that battery is fully charged and I can turn the thing on again. Hope this helps someone else. That ribbon cable is double sided taped to the battery. I thing mine was a bit tight and possibly even temperature variation was enough to pull the ribbon out. I readjusted the ribbon to make sure there was "slack" between the last tape point and connector.
