Attempting to completely restore my desktop to factory after virus. I was able to run the recovery all the way through following the instructions provided. Now when computer starts, it reboots several times finally ending in screen for windows 8 that says:

Recovery

Your PC coundnt turn off properly

The operating system on your pc failed to turn off properly and needs to be repaired

Error cod: oxc0000001

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation medaia. If you dont have any installation media (like a disk or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

Press Entet to try again

Press F8 for Startup Settings

Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Settings

I attempted to contact acer support, but since the PC is now out of warranty they wanted me to pay for support. I contacted acer store and had them send me new e recovery media (under the assumpion they sent the wrong media) but i get the same results.

I hope this helps someone coming after me.

To restore I had to have 2/3 of the drives my PC came with pluged in.

My PC came with a small solid state drive, a 2TB drive, and a 1TB removable drive. To get the e recovery to work I had to have the solid state and 2tb intrnal drives connected and the 1TB remobable drive removed.

Glad Acer was so helpfull to provide such detailed directions (sarcasticly)

  • Hi,

Sorry that you still got the same problems, but may i ask like was there any hardware changes prior to all this issues,.

you can try to repair this error with a recovery media or trying to press SHIFT+ F8 at boot (if system was able to enter its own recovery)

    try to follow this instructions:

    http://teamwindows8.com/2012/11/error-code-0xc0000001-in-winodws-8/

By the way i suspect some hardware problems, to be honest.

The only hardware changes made was I unpluged the non-system hard drives so the restore would not over-write the files on them.

Shift + F8 is doing nothing.

Obtained Windows 8 recovery disk...No thanks to acer... but cannot repair issue with it.

I tried Restore, Refresh, and repair startup issues, but all failed.

Try to use eRecovery again but if it fails, probably there's an hardware issue, can be ram or HDD.

Oh, yes, you need to have the SSD installed for the Intel cache.....

Sorry, i forgot to ask your desktop model, probably we would had this issue fixed before.
