the BSOD gives you any error string?

can you post a picture of it?

    what's your OS?

probably you have the auto-reboot after an error, active.

you can disable it, so you can take a pic of error or report it better, but i need to know the OS.

first, thank you for your response.

    i have windows 7...

my hard disk is almost full and my laptop often get stuck when different programs are open. i am thinking of upgrading to win8.

i'll post the pic of the blue screen error next time for better understanding.

for sure it's time to upgrade to 4gb. Smiley Happy

but can be an HDD problem.

let's wait the first BSOD and check the reported error.

Can be a bad ram stick, chipset drivers failure or HDD problem.

first of all, try to update AHCI and chipset drivers from the Acer website:

    http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers/3277;-;Aspire%205742

select the proper OS and then look for

    AHCI

    Chipset

    download drivers and install them.
