I'm looking to find out the correct DDR3 RAM memory for an Aspire 5736z-4460. I bought it used and am not sure the PC3-12800s is correct. I do know it's PC3 or DDR3.

Thanks!

This model has Dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM support of up to 2 GB of DDR3 system memory, upgradable to 4 GB using two soDIMM modules
There are two DIMM socket which supports memory size per socket 2 GB
It supports DIMM type DDR III 667/800Mhz SDRAM memory and  DIMM Speed of 667/800Mhz SDRAM with DIMM voltage 1.5V
It supports DIMM package DDRIII SDRAM 204pin Unbuffered SODIMM.

A ha. I just found specs at CNet, whiche say pc3-8500. Funny I have a stick of that that doesn't work in the machine, while 12800 does. Need to test further. Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks much, Sharanji, that was a very thorough answer.

Please check out http://www.cnet.com/products/acer-aspire-5736z-4460-15-6-pentium-t4500-windows-7-home-premium-64-bit-3-gb-ram-320-gb-hdd/specs/, where it list pc3-8500, or 1066mhz, as the correct denomination. I don't see specs for the unit on the Acer site. Naturally, I'd like the faster RAM, if possible.

I have another problem with this unit also - the rear slot does not function, and its use with any denomination of RAM prevents the unit from booting. So I'm considering trying a 4GB stick in the front slot. I know that's not approved, but I wonder if it would work.

    Thanks.

Where did you find that? I just located the service guide for "Aspire 5738G/5738ZG/5738Z/5738/5338 Series
Aspire 5536/5536G/5236 Series", which isn't exact, but close, and it corroborates 1066mhz.
