AOA 150 BIOS update

Hi

I'm trying to update the bios on my AOA150 to 3310 to solve the battery charging problem. I've followed the instructions here http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3332/~/my-aspire-one-aoa110-or-aoa150-battery-no-longer-recharges,-what-should-i-do%3F

But no luck. I've tried 3 different memory sticks. The screen goes black for a couple of minutes then reboots but when I check the version number the bios is still on the old version.

I've also booted to free dos and tried running the bat file but the command appears to execute but again nothing happens.

My netbook has lubuntu installed.

Any suggestions welcome

EDIT:

sometimes FreeDOS doesn't work, you need MS-DOS bootable.

Hi. Thanks for quick reply. Yes that's what I did to run free dos. Maybe will try again. I copied bat and fd file. Do I need anything else?

Finally got it updated.

As I know lots of people have had a similar problem, here's what finally worked for me.

But this didn't work for me. I then found this article, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/16654292-post37.html

I tried this with several different USB memory sticks, but no luck. I then posted here and was going to try again following IronFly's suggestion but UNetbootin didn't have the option to boot to MS-DOS and I don't have any windows disks to create my own boot disk.

I reformatted the stick and created a fresh freedos boot stick and copied 3310.bat, 3310.fd and the exe to the root of the boot stick. I then rebooted. This time instead of selecting freedos live only I selected freedos safe mode (no drivers) from the boot menu, purely on a hunch. This time when I ran 3310.bat I could see information on the screen and it showed the update was in progress, when it was finished the netbook rebooted. I went into the BIOS screen and checked the version number. It was now 3310. WOOHOOO!!!

My battery is now charging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's why is always better to use MS-DOS to flash BIOS.

I need the same help, i have the same problem but my labtop it's not even boots at all, and i tried the solution mentioned above by USB stick by the original acer way but nothing happened, and i can't use free DOS as i said coz i can't boot the labtop even,,,,
