V223HQ input not supported

hello i am new here, i registered at this forum cause i have a problem with my pc and i hope you guys can help me with it.

i have had this monitor"acer V223HQ" for a year or 5 and up until now i never had any problems with it.

however today and 2 days ago i got a black screen with a grey block hovering around with the text:"INPUT NOT SUPPORTED"

 

after this i went and searched the internet like a maniac on how i can fix it. however none of those fixes did work(or were applicable)(most of them involved turning down refresh rate to 60hz wich i already had).

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: this has only happened twice to me yet, every time it happened i have both firefox and internet-explorer open reading/listening to music on firefox and playing a flash game in i-e(i don't know why but it is just faster for me on i-e) i have not used internet explorer before any off this happened.

i find it hard to believe though that the i-e and firefox combo could lead to this though but it is the only thing i can think off atm.(yes i know it has nothing to do with my monitor if this is the problem so i can understand if this is just coincidence)

 

i am not a totaly ***** concerning computers so even if you have a complicated suggestion feel free to post it

    also the day before this happened for the first time i had random colored lines and stuff showing up on my monitor in case this has something to do with it

    i would:

    1) check video cable connection

    2) check if nvidia new drivers are available to update 

    3) check VGA temperature

     

    if you already check this and still having the issue, can be an hardware issue, like VGA ram not working properly.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

    managed to fix it by reversing my vga cable(no idea at all why it worked thoughSmiley Frustratedanyway thanks for the respones
