Turn of LCD but leave PC active (without closing the lid)

Hi all,

I'd like to use the switch 10 to play, for example, spotify while connected to a receiver. I'd like to use the screen to control the system but  turn the screen off while not using. All things i've tried also put the system to sleep so the music stops.

One solution is to project to a second display only but this means I have to use the dock to navigate (which I don't want) .

I can also put the system to never go to sleep and close the lid but this also is a bad solution.

The switch 10 has a FN button to turn of the screen but this also puts te system to sleep and LCDoff.exe does not work...

Anny ideas?

I wonder if a blank screen screen saver would work for you?

Unfortunatly a blank screen saver does not turn the backlight off.

At the moment I have set a slideshow of images but I would like to not waste battery power on the screen while playing music in desktop mode.

It would be ok if I got the FN key to turn of the LCD only (as on my Asus laptop of 4 years old). It would be perfect if I could set the physical home button could use to turn the LCD off.

    Have you tried "monitor off"?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I hadn't tried that one yet and it does turn off the screen.

It also put the tablet to sleep.

i'm doing some experiment and the Fn+F6 works as "Sleep" button, like pressing the Power button.

if you try to change the power button behaviour on "power options" to "nothing", you will disable the Fn+F6 combination too.

and as you mentioned, switching to a secondary monitor, even if not connected turn off the LCD.

using SW10 as tablet, the only solution is :

    1. Swype your thing from right side of the screen to the center.
    2. Go to Devices.
    3. Tap project/second screen.
    4. And select Second screen only.

    or

Download from here a shortcut to second screen, this will open the charming bar directly to monitor selection:

to come back to main screen, just double tap it.
