Acer r7 has no sound output problem.

It worked yesterday but as of this morning no sound. The Realtek highDef sound device has the current driver and is identified as operational by the Win 8.1 device manager, but no sound comes out from any source. Rolling back the driver to an earlier version did result in a pulse of static during the changeover but still no output.

As side note the Devices and Printers button is no longer working in Classic Shell.

Can you check on system services if any bluetooth service is available and if it's started and set to automatic?

    windows key logo + R

    type 'services.msc' (without quotes)

right click on the speaker icon in the bottom right of your screen (near clock and date), choose "playback devices", check if Realtek is enabled and default device

Realtek is enabled and is set as the default device.

    Notes from this screen:

    1) The signal level bar on the right is inactivite which I think indicates no output to the speakers and Spotify is giving me the following error message "There is a problem with your sound card. Spotify can't play music."

    2) If I Select "Configure" and then select "test" to test the speakers, nothing happens (no sound) the same is true for the other playback device that is availble.

    3) if I select the "Properties" >this device is enabled,  levels are maxed on the Levels tabtab and defaults are selected on the Advanced tab.

    And still no sound.

You may need to check if the sound settings on your computer are correctly set. To do this, you can follow the steps below:
    1. In your Windows 8.1, go to "Start" screen and click on "Desktop" tile.
    2. Once the desktop window comes up, righ-click on an empty space.
    3. From the menu that comes up, go to "Personalize"
    4. In the Personalization windows, go to "Sound" option located at the bottom.
    5. In the box that comes up, go to "Playback". Here, a list of devices will come up. If you know which of the displayed devices should be your default device, you can choose "Set as Default" option besides it. If you do not know, then you can set each device as default one-by-one and check if that resolves your issue.

If the issue still persists, you can try reinstalling the sound drivers in your computer and see if that resolves the issue.

To download the latest drivers, you can go to the following Acer webpage:

    More error codes and indications:

Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file.

The "Devices and Printers" command in the Wins 8.1 "Classic Start Shell" is not working now. Selecting does nothing and Classic Shell freezes operation until I double click a couple of times

If you have a system restore point available, i think it's time to use it.

Apparently I can not do so, as System Restore wasn't turned on.

Bingo! Thank you, I had attempted to set up a bluetooth headset with Dragon Naturally Speaking 13 the day before I lost sound, so I Stopped the service per your comment and deleted the headset from Dragon and sound was restored after a reboot. Question after reboot with sound working properly the Bluetooth Service is agin running in automatic should this be reste to manual or manual trigger start instead of automatic?

You can try it but i think it's needed to be automatic.
