Single Short Beep Aspire ZC-605

Hey guys! I just had a quick question I couldn't find an answer for after searching for a minute.

Basically I am helping my girlfriend set up an all-in-one Aspire ZC-605 that she hadn't taken out of the box until today. Everything seems to be going fine apart from it struggling to apply the first round of Windows updates, but now every time it boots up there is a short beep. It definitely did not do that the very first time we turned it on, and it doesn't seem to be IMMEDIATELY critical since it still seems to be able to get to Windows, but I'm wondering if anyone knows what that beep might mean?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide! Smiley Very Happy

  • The AMI BIOS normally sounds 1 *long* beep at boot if all POST tests succeed.
However, 1 *short* beep signifies DRAM refresh failure.

    To check your RAM:
Click the 'Start' button and type 'memory' in the 'search programs and files' field.
Click 'Memory Diagnostics Tool' and follow the directions.
Should the test result indicate a possible RAM problem, I would try removing and reseating your memory.
