What happens after BIOS screen? Booting or not booting?

You exit BIOS discarding or saving changes?

For sure something is going wrong during boot, there is any option about "load default options" or "load optimized options"?

if available, choose it, save and reboot.

    Please report BIOS version too.

    I'll check that out, but. . .

Trying to follow Acer instructions to boot from rescue media (just in case), it said :

" If it is not already enabled, you must enable the F12 Boot Menu:
    a. Press <F2> when starting your computer.
    b. Use the left or right arrow keys to select the Main menu.
    c. Press the down key until F12 Boot Menu is selected, press <F5> to
    change this setting to Enabled.
    d. Use the left or right arrow keys to select the Exit menu.
    e. Depending on the type of BIOS your computer uses, select Save
Changes and Exit or Exit Saving Changes and press Enter. Select
    OK or Yes to confirm."

which I did and that's when the issue began but I can't see what the relationship is. I did return the bios to its original setting, it seems to be fine now, (haven't restarted enough to be sure), but I sure would want "f12" enabled.

    Bios version: V2.25

There is a "Load setup defaults."

Give a reboot and check, if you enabled "F12" that's why everytime goes to BIOS, it's asking you which device use as Boot.

if it still goes to BIOS , choose "Load setup defaults"m save and reboot.

By the way, i would update the BIOS to the latest release:

    http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_2.29_A_A.zip?acerid=635434302482073753&Step1=ULTRA-THIN&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%20M5-583P&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6

just follow instruction inside the file.

    1. But I'm not hitting F12
    2. Restart seems fine now after disabling F12
    3. That link seems broken

    Thanks

1-2. yes, but if you enabled "F12" probably the BIOS want to know the boot device manually (probably an issue); good to hear that is fixed now.

    3. link is good, it works on my side, by the way you can check on Acer support website

    http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers/4848;-;Aspire%20M5-583P

click on BIOS and download version 2.29

I've never flashed a BIOS before, I'm a little scared. Should I? Do I just double click the exe from within Windows?

Thanks for your time and help. I guess I'll just change the boot order manually if it's ever necessary.

You need to double click the exe, nothing else.

have battery full charged and AC charger connected, sometimes BIOS updates help fix some strange issue, it's on your own to do it, if you not feel confortable...don't do it. Smiley Wink
