How do I transfer files from PC to tablet?

I have just purchased an Iconia A1 180 tablet.  I would like to know how I do transfer of files from my PC to the tablet.

I know how to connect and use the Bluetooth or a cable with a USB.  What I'm asking is, how does one tell thePC to send files to a particular folder on the tablet.

I've read through the manual which only tells how to connect via cable or bluethooth, but exactly how to send a file.

I tried sending files but each time they fail.  If they didn't fail I have no idea where they'd go.  I'm in a bit of a tizzy with this, so if you can help it would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Do a quick Google search for "android file manager windows network share" or something similar. I think you'll find it easiest to share files over your network, and when doing so to share Windows files with the tablet rather than sharing Android files with Windows.

Basically you setup folders on your Windows machines as file shares, then access those shares from the Android side with a file manager app...

I just tried this, albeit without my Acer DA220HQL connected to the PC & I a window "Complete action using" with choices of BROWSER or CHROME, both send me to the original problem I still have in getting connected to the web.

I get the same when it is connected to my PC. I've already downloaded the updated drivers to my PC. But I also have difficulties when connected to the PC because the PC(Gateway SX2370, Win8.1) gets confused over which monitor, mouse or keyboard to use. Sometimes the two screens are acting like they are combined into one. other times I get randomly switched from one screen, mouse or keyboard in mid-use, happens everytime I try drag & drop with the mouse. I set the PC monitor as the default, but that was wrong or not staying in effect.
