Z3-605-UR20 boot from cdrom info freedos

it seems that the disk on my Z3-605-UR20 is failing - I had trouble booting and finally was able to force chkdsk in recovery. It found one bad sector on windows\system32\config\SOFTWARE - registry out of all files....

i am back online but Seagate disk tools for windows is failing various tests and recommends running seagate disk tools for DOS.

It comes as a bootable ISO from seagate. I burned the CD (twice) but nothing I do (boot order in bios, F12 menu) causes Acer to recognize this cd as bootable.

At the same time i can boot a dell laptop with this cd without any issues.

Any suggestions on what I can do here to get the seagate tools to run? Why wont acer/bios see the cdrom as bootable?

PS the warranty on my computer expired unfourtunately... and seagate recognizes the serial as "integrator" disk and wont touch it....

the solution from another thread - disable secure boot in authentication and enable CSM in boot menu - worked for recognizing and booting fromt the CD.

unfourtunately once booted - the seagate program does not see the drive or controller (probably a driver issue).

If anything has any suggestions - perhaps a bios option change to make the drive visiable?

    thanks!
