I have an Acer V5-571G with Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS. My problem is that the 4-pin jack doesnt work well. When i plug a headset with mic (4-pin) the mic isn't detected. I'd reported a bug in Ubuntu Community and they told me that i needed to ask here for help. This is the bug thread. The lastest message says this:

the realtek codec need vendor specific coeff to support headset Mic , you have to ask the Acer support forum.

What operating system originally shipped on your computer? Did the mic work with the original OS? If it does, then the physical hardware is working. If not, it would be a hardware problem.

Unfortunately, I don't have information that would help you troubleshoot on Ubuntu, but possibly other community members may have some suggestions.

Hardware is alright. It worked on Windows. I know it's a software issue because i've been asking this in many places.
