How to tell if my acer netbook zg5 needs a new charger or battery?

I recently took my acer netbook Zg5 in for a new screen and keyboard. I got it home and I plugged it in and thought it was charging but the light just keeps flashing. Also when I unplug it it completely shuts off! I then thought it was maybe the charger. I started doing some research and it said it may be the battery. I see a symbol but it looks like a power cord for me to plug it in. I went into my control panel then clicked performance and maintenance then clicked power options then went to power meter and it says that my total battery power is unknown then under that it has a battery with a red X through it then next to that it says 0%. I know I need a new charger anyway because it seems like it has a bit of a shortage but I would rather buy a battery if that is the problem.

 

P.S. I got this laptop years ago and recently started back using it so my warranty is up!

I would look on ebay or online for a charger, since you said it seems like there is a short. If that doesn't fix the battery issue, then you can look for a replacement battery. You may need both, because batteries do go bad over time. Good luck.
