I can get so far as acer recover starts and it ask me to pick languae

But then it goes down to from installing and say that restore falied and I get an error message

Any advice on how to fix it??

    What error message?

It sound like a hard disk problem. Maybe your hard disk is corrupt. Than you have to buy another one. It could also be the case that you backup media is corrupt. Install some other OS like Linux to check whether your disk is working or not.

It was something like restoring failed error  cfx 0005 or something

I have the windows keynumber under my computer

but if Im correct in this I cant use that keynumber to any other Windows Xp disk

the key is special and connected to a special disk right?

I have some stuff on the other partion in my harddrive and those program are connected to my computer

so if I install another windows version those program will think its a new computer

I dont think the back up are corrupt because I have 3 and all 3 cant be corrupt

what im thinking is that something might be changed on the computer

so acer recovery cant make it back to as it was from factory

Had acer given out a original windows xp disk when I bought the computer

I could have got it to work but on that time you was suppose to do backups

    Try this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246/en-us

However, if your hard drive is corrupt you can't install anything.

The harddrive is ok I can install other windows on it

But my programs on secondpartion dont accept it as the old computer it thinks its a new computer

there for I would like to be able to reinstall from the backup disks

or use my key so the computer gets back to fabric "new"

but the key on my computer cant be used on other windows since keylicens are connected to certain disks

and in this case acer didnt send out a original disk

My problem at the moment its not haveing a original mircosoft copy or a orginalkey because that I have that are correct

but the backup disks cant install to fabric and to that key thats on my computer there is no orginal xp disk

since acer didnt sent any out those years before they allways said to make a back up

I guess its a dead end?

What makes you think your key is "connected" with ceratin disks? Install Windows XP use your OEM key. There are tons of ISOs around the web, maybe directly available by Microsoft. Regarding your applications, I don't know why you can't simply install these again but I will leave this secret to you.
